I have noticed on social networks an increasing interest in using aromatherapy with small children, especially when you want them to calm down. I noticed also that some of the mommies (mostly it is mommies who launch in these group surveys) experiment with essencial oils because they hear they work but without other foundation.

Because ther are adverse effects on the utilization of essencial oils, I consider important to help elucidate “my” mommies so your little ones benefit the most of aromatherapy.

So, I felt the need to gather here at the Blog, the 3 main cares on a good aromatherapy for your baby.

1. Firstly I feel it is important to clarify that I do not use essencial oils on the Mariolas by Patiferie. I add inside the body a small sachet with biological lavander flowers of biological rosemary leaves, inaccessible to whom plays with it. This way I know that our babies and adults will benefit in full of the therapeutic properties of the scents.♡

You may read more on these Mariolas on my article How Sculpture Helps You Sleep.

2. The essencial oils are extracted from natural plants and presented in an extremelly concentrated formula; in order to use them you must dilute them in another vegetable oil, such as sweet almond or grape seed. To enjoy their benefits in psychological and physical terms make sure it is a biological oil. There are precepts to use them safely, so you get the most out of them, especially when it comes to babies.

3. The baby skin is sensitive and shouldn’t be placed in direct contact with an essencial oil, even if diluted in another vegetable oil. If you decide to use an essencial oil, it is preferable that you put it in a place near the baby but in such a way that it doesn’t get in touch with his skin. For example, place one or two drops in an aromatizer ou in that plush the baby still doesn’t care about and leave it next to where he’s going to sleep so he can feel the scent.

The concentration of an essencial oil is very strong and causes allergies and burns when not diluted. In this aspect your skin is also sensitive – if you use an essencial oil do not expose it to the sun for it can get stained. If you are pregant you may use vegetable oils like sweet almond oil or grape seed oil, but it’s not advisable to use others until the 7th month of gestation. As an alternative I use the plants that are the basis of each oil. For instance, when I was a little girl and was with a flu, my grandmother yould place a few rosemary branches in boiling water on the stove. The scent would spread slowly through the house and my nose wouldn’t be stuffy. This is one of my best childhood memories and I bring it to adult age; some friends really like these aromatic peculiarities at my home but that’s subject for another day…

Tell me – do you use scents at home?

Have you tried aromatherapy on you or on your little ones? Tell me everything!

I want the Mariolas to help always more a better.
